Written communication is an essential skill to develop as a student and something that can always be improved upon, no matter how old you are. That’s why written assignments will be a big piece of our class and I will expect ALL students to demonstrate their ideas at different times in writing. The following are the basic (there are only a few) expectations for all assignments done in writing; specific guidelines will vary from assignment to assignment, again these are just the basics:
- Of course there must be a heading (Student Number, Name, Date, Period, Assignment Title)
- Each question, or point addressed, must be answered in a complete sentence. If not students will receive no points for that question.
- Both hand-written or typed work will be excepted, unless required to be one or the other.
- Written work will be evaluated based on its completeness, detail in support of what is stated, coherency and effort shown in answering the question or addressing the point. So when composing your responses be sure it does these well.
Once more, there are other parts that will need to be included based on each individual assignment, but these are the things you need to keep in mind for each writing assignment we do.
